Last Spring, Mathieu and I went on a family trip to Athens, with my parents. Our flight to the Greek Capital landed late in the afternoon, so after going to the city of Athens from the airport, we only had time for dinner in the first evening.
However, this came as an advantage the next day. After a good night’s sleep, we woke up all bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to discover the first place everyone must visit in the city of Athens: the Parthenon on the Acropolis.
Last spring, the very next day after arriving in Bucharest from Rome we got on a plane to go on a trip to Athens. While it was Mathieu’s first time visiting Greece, I was returning for the ninth or tenth time. However, it was my first visit to Athens.
I was very curious to see the Capital, and discover more of Greece’s history. At the same time, I was wondering if Athens resembled the rest of Greece or if it was completely different. Read on and come on a trip to Athens with me!

It’s the perfect time to get into the holiday spirit, so I’m inviting you to join me on a virtual tour to discover the Christmas customs and traditions in Europe!
This is a pastry product, kind of like a pie, which is usually enjoyed for breakfast. Depending on the stuffing, Banitsa can be salty (e.g. with sirene cheese, spinach, mushrooms, cabbage) or sweet (e.g. pumpkin, apples, walnuts). Excellent as street food, for the on-the-go backpacker.
