Sibiu, also known as Hermannstadt or Nagyszeben, is a lovely city in the centre of Romania, in Transilvania. In 2007 it was designated the European Capital of Culture, and in 2008 it became Europe’s eighth most idyllic place to live, on Forbes’s list.

The centre is well preserved and in a few days, one can discover its picturesque streets, its lovely bookshops, cafes and restaurants, as well as its beautiful park, Sub Arini.

You can also schedule your trip to synchronize with yearly events, such as:

  • The International Theatre Festival (FITS)
  • The International Street ART Festival
  • The ASTRA Film Festival
  • The Jazz Festival
  • The Christmas Market.

Outside the town, one can visit the ASTRA Museum of Folkloric Traditional Civilization, the Păltiniş ski resort or the wonderful fortified churches from the little villages surrounding Sibiu.
