Traditional Czech cuisine is primarily meat and dumpling fare, which is also not everyone’s first preference. But their beer is delicious, famous and very cheap.
Food and drink in Prague are both plenty (as you would imagine in Eastern Europe) and inexpensive. You have to try the dumplings, and the Czech beer is one of the best on the continent. It’s also the original home of Budweiser, and they still make their own better edition.

However, the heart of Prague is surely Wenceslas Square, the site of all the historic events of the city, such as the Prague Spring of 1967 and the Velvet Revolution of 1989, which finally brought an end to communism. Wenceslas Square is now home to the National Museum.
After the Velvet Revolution, came the Velvet Divorce of 1993. That’s when Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Since then, the local currency is the Czech koruna.
