Tips to keep your skin hydrated while traveling

A trip to a distant destination is undoubtedly a rare experience. But it’s an experience that strains our body and specifically our skin, as we discover that it’s not easy to stay hydrated while traveling.

Constant exposure to the sun, consumption of a minimal amount of water, and our constant movement from place to place can create problems not only in appearance but also in our body’s overall health and our metabolism.

Our regular hydration is an important activity during the day for every person, whether that person travels or not. Especially in the case of a trip, where the person suffers from constant movement, exposure to the exhaust fumes of cities, but also to ultraviolet rays from the sun. Travel dehydration is a serious problem, so how do you protect and hydrate your skin during your travels so you don’t have to worry about your skin’s health?

Why it’s important to stay hydrated while traveling

Let me first mention that water is the most important component of the human body. This fact is easily understood if we consider that it constitutes 60% of an adult’s body weight. It plays a vital role in the transport of nutrients, the proper functioning of the human body’s organs, and its thermoregulation. Therefore the daily hydration of the body is a matter of utmost importance for everyone.

Without food, we can survive for about 7 weeks. But without water, we can only last for 48 hours! Our obligation is to replenish the fluids and electrolytes that are excreted every 24 hours through sweating and urination. For the average adult, this amount corresponds to about 2.5 liters of fluid. In summer, this amount can increase, as high ambient temperatures force the human body to excrete large amounts of fluids in order to achieve thermoregulation.

Those who do not meet their needs for fluids often show intense fatigue, reduced mental performance, and even diarrhea. If you experience these symptoms during your vacation, pay closer attention to staying hydrated while traveling.

How to stay hydrated while traveling

While I’m talking about hydration, I don’t mean the consumption of large amounts of water exclusively. There are other types of foods and beverages that contain large amounts of water, which you can consume during your trip, in order to maintain normal levels of hydration throughout the day. You can achieve this by using any form of liquid, including milk, fruit and vegetable juices, tea, soft drinks, and foods with high water content. Just don’t overdo it with sugary drinks.

Here are 8 ways to increase your water intake and stay hydrated while traveling:

  • Cold vegetable soups. They have few calories and can be prepared at home and consumed even in the office. They will quench your thirst and fill you up fast.
  • Fruit juices. To avoid being overloaded with calories, fill half a glass with some fresh fruit juice and the other half with soda or water. You can also turn the juices into ice cubes and throw them in your water or soda for flavor. Another excellent alternative to fizzy beverages is coconut water.
  • Watermelon. The water content in watermelon exceeds 80%. So consuming 200 grams of this fruit is like drinking half a glass of water! Plus, watermelons are some of the best natural diuretics.
  • Green tea and herbs. They contain many antioxidants and are refreshing. For more flavor, add orange, lemon, or fresh mint. Green tea also has a diuretic effect.
  • Yogurt. Beat in a blender 1 cup of 2% fat yogurt, 1 handful of strawberries, and half a glass of water. It is ideal for your breakfast.
  • Vegetable cocktails. Tomato juice, carrot juice with lemon, or cucumber juice with grated dill are some creative, tasty suggestions with just a few calories.
  • Light drink. When you go out, ask for a glass of white wine mixed with soda and a little lime.
  • Nutritional supplements. By adding nutritional supplements to your daily meals, you will be able to receive all the necessary nutrients and essential substances for your daily needs. By purchasing quality nutritional supplements from the online store Foto Pharmacy, you can take with you on your trip all those essential products that will accompany your regular meals, providing protection and hydration throughout your tedious and sensitive journey.

Check if the tap water is safe to drink at your travel destination. Not only will it make it easier to improve your hydration status, but your drinking water will also be cheaper than when you buy bottled water from the store. In addition, using one refillable bottle to stay hydrated while traveling instead of many single-use water bottles is better for the environment.
