The Travel Bunny by Mirela Letailleur
Slow travel Europe, Mediterranean travel, and practical guides from Romania to Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
I’m Mirela Letailleur, a Romanian-born travel writer in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, near the Italian border. On The Travel Bunny, I share slow travel Europe guides, Mediterranean travel routes, Romania travel advice, Greece travel tips, Italy itineraries, Balkans travel ideas, and family-friendly planning from real trips by car, train, camper, ferry, and sailboat.
I write for travelers and expats who want useful, honest, place-specific advice across Europe. My strongest experience sits between Romania, the South of France, Italy, Greece, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean Sea. I’ve traveled these places since childhood, returned often, sailed parts of the region, crossed the Corinth Canal, explored by camper, and now plan trips with a toddler in mind.
Romanian-born. Provence-based. Mediterranean-rooted. Family-aware. Sailing-tested.

From Provence to the Balkans
HI. I’M MIRELA LETAILLEUR, FOUNDER OF THE TRAVEL BUNNY
I grew up in Romania, moved through Europe with curiosity and tight budgets, and built The Travel Bunny blog around practical travel advice I always wanted before a trip.
My travel experience sits between Romania, France, Italy, Greece, the Balkans, and the Mediterranean Sea. I’ve returned to these places across different life stages, first with my family, then as a solo traveler, as a couple, and now with a toddler who has very strong opinions about snacks and timing.
Living in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur shapes how I write about slow travel Europe. I’m near the Italian border, surrounded by hilltop villages, coastal roads, markets, ferries, and train routes, so my advice comes from daily regional context and frequent travel days.
Mediterranean travel became part of my life through repeated routes, long stays, plus some wet and windy lessons at sea.
I’ve sailed in France, Italy and Greece, crossed the Messina Straight, the Adriatic Sea, and the Corinth Canal, explored all the Ionian Islands and the Saronic Gulf.
I also travel to dreamy places by camper, car, trains, planes, and on foot, so my guides are useful for different budgets and travel styles. When I build itineraries, I care about route order, travel time, food stops, parking, rest days, and realistic pacing.
Family travel changed the way I judge every itinerary. A plan that looks good on the laptop can fail fast with a toddler. I write with real parents, tired travelers, and expats in mind, because I’m one of them.
The Travel Bunny is built on my lived experience, repeat visits, and practical research. I write travel guidance that helps you choose better destinations, avoid wasted effort, and understand what a place is truly like.

Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur
Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is my local base in the South of France, near the Italian border. My Provence travel guide content focuses on coastal towns, market days, hill villages, local drives, family-friendly stops, and slow travel Provence ideas for travelers and expats already in the region.
Start here for Côte d’Azur hidden gems, PACA itinerary ideas, villages in Provence, weekend routes, and practical advice for visiting the region beyond the same crowded postcard-stops.
Romania
Romania was home to me for most of my life. I was born and raised there, so my Romania travel guides are based on cultural memory, repeat visits, local food, family context, and a clear idea of what first-time visitors often misunderstand.
Use my guides for hidden Romania, Transylvania itinerary ideas, Romania road trip planning, authentic Romania experiences, Bucharest advice, countryside stays, and practical routes in a country that needs time, patience, and proper planning.
Greece
Greece is one of my favorite Mediterranean travel areas because I’ve returned many times by land, ferry, and sailboat. My Greece travel guides cover Athens, the Ionian Islands, the Saronic Gulf, Greece sailing routes, Greek island itinerary planning, day trips, cultural sites, food stops, and practical island-hopping choices.
Slow travel Europe turns into real Mediterranean experiences shaped by ferries, islands, sea routes, heat, Meltemi winds, Greek cuisine, local rhythms, and time spent beyond the standard tourist circuit.
italy
Italy sits close to my current life in the Var and deep in my travel history. My Italy travel guides focus on Liguria, the Italian Riviera, Rome walking tours, Tuscany road trip ideas, coastal towns, city breaks, family travel, food stops, and Italy slow travel.
Use my Italy guides for Liguria itinerary planning, Italian Riviera advice, Tuscany road trip ideas, and Mediterranean travel routes that connect well with France, Greece, sailing, and longer European trips.
Balkans
The Balkans belong at the heart of The Travel Bunny because they connect my Romanian background with years of travel across Eastern and Southern Europe. My Balkans travel guides focus on Balkan road trip planning, Eastern Europe travel, Bulgaria seaside cities, local culture, ferry trips, food, mountain towns, and places that still need better coverage online.
Start here for hidden Balkans ideas, realistic routes, cultural context, and trip inspiration if you want to visit beyond the capital-city route.
TRAVEL YOUR WAY
slow travel in europe
budget Travel
Budget travel means choosing the best value with care, not cutting the trip down to the cheapest option. My budget Mediterranean travel advice focuses on affordable Europe itineraries, smart transport choices, free cultural stops, local food, and places where money buys better time.
sailing Trips
Mediterranean sailing changed the way I plan coastal travel. On The Travel Bunny, I cover Mediterranean sailing, Greece sailing routes, sailing Italy, island arrivals, ports, marinas, and sea routes from real experience on the Italian coast, the Adriatic Sea, the Ionian Islands, the Corinth Canal, and the Saronic Gulf.
Family Vacations
Family travel in Europe needs realistic pacing, especially with young children. I plan and write about toddler travel Europe, slow travel with kids, flying with babies and toddlers, meal stops, rest breaks, short walks, and calmer overnight choices in mind, because a good family trip needs room for real life.
Camper Travel
Camper travel in Europe gives slow trips more freedom. My camping guides cover road trip Mediterranean routes, van life France, camper travel Italy, village parking, family road days, food stops, and practical choices from real camper trips through Provence and on the coast.
Road Trips
Road trips allow time for detours, local stops, and slower movement between destinations. I cover Balkans road trip planning, Provence road trip ideas, Greece itinerary routes, camper loops, coastal drives, mountain villages, and cross-border travel shaped by real driving experience across Europe.
